The ordering process is simple.

1. Complete checkout.
2. Get your order notification.
3. Review the DashCam/Sentry Mode User Guide while you wait for delivery (link in order confirmation and in My Account). It highlights the tips/tricks of the system.

Delivery

Your order ships via USPS and typically arrives within 3-5 days after your order is processed.

Tracking info is included in your shipment notification email and is available in “My Account” if you create an account at checkout.

Install

Installation couldn’t be easier.

1. Open your Pure Tesla shipment.
2. Remove the USB drive from the packaging.
3. Plug your new USB drive into the front USB port in your Tesla.

You’ll see the TeslaCam icon appear in the top right corner of your screen. Good to go!

Why microSD cards?

The microSD drives we use are designed for Dashcam systems. These cards are rugged, built to withstand extreme heat and cold, which is perfect for being left in a car year round, and have a write speed that far surpasses the minimum Tesla requirement (4 MB/sec).

Regular USB flash drives cannot withstand the constant recording that takes place with Dashcam systems and will fail...probably when you need it the most. microSD cards, specifically those in this package, are up to the task and can handle the burden.

Will this package work with my Tesla?

Tesla vehicles that have AP2.5 hardware or later are compatible with recording video to a USB drive.

AP2.5 hardware started shipping on Tesla vehicles starting in August 2017, with a full conversion in October 2017.

USB recording is NOT compatible with AP1.0 or AP2.0 hardware (vehicles manufactured before August 2017).

Do I have to program the USB drive when it arrives?

No, your Pure Tesla USB drive comes entirely pre-formatted for TeslaCam.

Simply open the package and plug the USB drive into your Tesla. That’s it!

How many hours of footage can each microSD card capacity hold?

One minute of footage has a typical size of 30 MB. Using that metric:

128GB – Approx 71 hours of footage

256GB – Approx 142 hours of footage

Are there taxes/VAT on international shipments?

International shipments going through customs are subject to inspection and, depending on your countries import policies, may be assessed import fees/VAT upon arrival and are the responsibility of the customer. This only applies to specific countries.

How quickly will my purchase be shipped?

Items that are in stock will be processed and shipped within 1-2 business days.

Items shipped using our Free Shipping option take 3-5 days for delivery (after shipment).

Items shipped using the Priority Shipping option take 2-3 days for delivery (after shipment).

What is Tesla Dashcam?

Dashcam is a system built into your Tesla. When a properly formatted USB drive (like the one we sell) is inserted into the USB port in your Tesla, the car will start recording from the front, left, right, and rear cameras.

The system retains the most recent hour of footage before overwriting itself.

To save footage, simply tap the Dashcam icon (small camera with red dot) and the last 10 minutes of footage will be saved permanently to the SavedClips folder on the drive. It will remain until you delete it.

What is Sentry Mode?

Sentry Mode, when enabled, monitors your Tesla while it is parked and locked. When a potential threat is detected, the system enters Alert state, which starts the four cameras recording (front, left, right, rear) and also displays a message on the center screen.

If the threat becomes physical (entering vehicle, damage, etc) it will enter Alarm state and will activate the lights, horn, and music in the car.

Video clips from both Alert and Alarm states are saved to the SentryClips folder on your USB drive. The oldest clips overwrite when the drive fills up.

The best of both worlds: our highly reliable and popular microSD drive for TeslaCam recording coupled with the ability to view footage on the go with the included USB to Lightning adapter for your iPhone or iPad. This package works seamlessly with the included SentryView app on iOS (shown in video below).

4. Open the Files app or the SentryView app (optional purchase) and tap PURETESLA or TESLACAM...then view footage!

How do I format the drive when I receive it from Pure Tesla?

You don't have to! The whole idea behind this package is that your drive will come pre-formatted, ready for all TeslaCam activities (DashCam and Sentry Mode). Simply plug in the drive to your Tesla and you're good to go (assuming you have a software version that supports DashCam and Sentry Mode).

Each drive is formatted and tested to ensure it is functioning properly.

All our drives fit in the Jeda Hub Dashcam storage compartment.

*Refunds are not provided for the cost of the SentryView app ($7.99) as the code sent to the customer is irrevocable.

**NOTE: PureTesla sells the initial Dashcam formatting service and guarantees that Dashcam will work upon arrival. Due to the various computer operating systems and Tesla software updates, we are not responsible for drives that are corrupted due to situations outside of our control. That said, we are always happy to help troubleshoot! Hardware warranty is provided through the manufacturer.

**Dashcam and Sentry Mode recording works with Tesla vehicles manufactured since August 2017. AP 2.0 Hardware is currently not fully supported (but stay tuned as that may change).
